The church in Brindisi suffered and in 1876, for three days, the believers were stoned. All those who used to come and hear the gospel stopped, leaving only a few believers. Rossetti, in his attempt to visit this church, was attacked on the railway and was also stoned. His arm was severely hurt, even possibly broken. When Rossetti finally reached Brindisi they spoke of their troubles and Rossetti was able to show them his arm too, which bought silence. Rossetti writes that his visit has been a blessing, raising up these believers. As a result, eight more were baptised and added to the church. Rossetti shares that this church no longer speaks of stones and fears but of the joy of salvation.
