Robbie and Jean’s Story

Pakistan – Work Echoing in Eternity!

On a recent trip to Pakistan, we learned more about an ‘amazing couple’, Robbie and Dr Jean Orr, who were sent out from Edinburgh churches – what are now Bellevue Chapel and Bruntsfield Evangelical Church – to Multan, Pakistan.

The first two years of their time in Pakistan was spent in language study. In 1953 they established a medical dispensary in Multan, specialising in midwifery, antenatal and treatment of TB. The medical work was a means to heal many physically but also spiritually with a great gospel work amongst Muslim women and their families.

Bethel church was established (many of the converts would be Muslim). From this work, an additional seven churches have been planted and built up in the city. Robbie, along with others, sought to teach God’s Word in these churches and help to build up the Christians in their faith.

Throughout Pakistan and Scotland, Robbie and Jean Orr’s work in medical, publishing, gospel and preaching ministries has lasted these past 68 years and no doubt all the way to Glory. Thousands will look back to a couple from Edinburgh who put everything on the altar for God and be able to give thanks for their salvation.
