TURKEY/SYRIA EARTHQUAKE:
The situation on the ground in Turkey and Syria cannot be exaggerated. The first major earthquake happened around 4am on a Monday morning when most people were indoors and in bed. Hundreds of apartment buildings simply collapsed, meaning that whole buildings full of families, neighbours and friends were lost. The second earthquake, almost as strong as the first, compounded the loss and hampered early rescue operations. Loss of life has been enormous and will continue to rise. Winters in this region are severe and it is bitterly cold at the moment, with temperatures around and below freezing.
Pray for the believers in Turkey and Syria that they will be able to bring practical help and spiritual comfort during this terrible tragedy.

HORN OF AFRICA:
Countries like Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia are suffering from a food crisis and a possible famine in the coming months. With many seasons of below average rainfall recently, people from countries in this region are facing drought, rising food costs and food insecurity. Through our disaster relief fund, Echoes International are helping local assemblies provide food relief supplies for families in Kenya facing hardship. Pray for this region, particularly for rural areas which have been affected and for an estimated 1.8 million children suffering life-threatening malnutrition.
