‘Then Jesus came to them and said ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
Matthew 28: 18-20
Where to Start
Feeling like God might be calling upon you to serve is an exciting and joyous moment. But we understand you might have questions and we’re here to offer you support even before you decide to serve.
Looking for specific opportunities to serve? Click here.

1. Respond
If God is calling it is vital that you respond! It is amazing to think God shares His love through individuals like us. Therefore, if God is calling you to serve, responding is an important step and a key starting point to your mission journey.
Speak with those that you have confidence in spiritually and take the time to gain insight and advice from church elders. Their knowledge of mission, guidance and spiritual support will be incredibly helpful in allowing you to make decisions.

2. Commit
Once you’re certain you’d like to commit to mission, of course you are probably still going to have questions and decisions to make. Where to go? How long for? When will my mission begin? What do I need? It’s fine to take some time to think about all these things and make sensible decisions that are right for you. It is at this point that it might be helpful to speak with someone at Echoes International, as we can start to build a relationship where we offer you the support and guidance you may need.

3. Planning & Preparation
Assuming you have the support of your local church, there will be multiple considerations for you as you plan your transition towards serving God (particularly if you are making a long term commitment). We’re here to ensure you know everything you need to know – from practical considerations, to training and equipping, right through to what connections you will have in your location of service.
For more information on how we help you prepare go to, visit our Serving Mission Partners page, or feel free to get in touch. Echoes International will work with you and your elders as you progress through this stage.

4. Rejoice
There is so much joy in knowing you are following God’s will and of course the joy in knowing God’s work through you will change lives and make a positive difference. Take time to consistently acknowledge His Grace and wisdom. It is an amazing thought that God can use us – broken people deserving His censure and yet in His will, He chooses to work through us.
This is an exciting time in your spiritual growth and for the fellowship to which you belong when God calls someone to serve Him. This is something to give God thanks for.

5. Go
When all your preparations are complete, it’s time to go! What a joy to step out in faith knowing that our Lord and Saviour has gone before.
